Herbert elated with win

THANK YOU!

That was the sentiment from Barbadian Alana Herbert who recently won a competition to become the covergirl of the 2017 Toronto Carnival Guide.

For about three weeks supporters of the 24 regional and international contestants were asked to cast their votes online daily using at the guide’s website.

And by the end of the contest, Herbert had amassed 4,862 votes while her biggest competition got 4,713.

 “I’m just really happy and grateful especially since people took the time out every day to vote consecutively for three weeks,” she said.

About 150,000 copies of the magazine are expected to be distributed across the North American city and and in addition to the cover, she will also be an ambassador Toronto Carnival Guide at events during interviews and win a trip to Trinidad Carnival.
