TWO CONTRASTING half centuries, combined with a compelling all-round performance by Ryan Hinds, propelled Sagicor UWI into the Barbados Cricket Association’s T20 final.

UWI recorded a six wicket victory over Counterpoint Wanderers at Kensington Oval last night and await the winner of tonight’s encounter between St Catherine and Maple.

Opener Leniko Boucher stroked his way to an impressive knock of 66 after being dropped on three, to lead UWI to 141 for four in 19 overs in reply to Wanderers’ 139 for nine off 20.

Boucher struck nine boundaries in an innings that lasted 47 balls while captain Nicholas Kirton was more pedestrian in comparison.

His undefeated 50 included one six and two fours from 46 balls.

Hinds, who hit the winning runs in an unbeaten knock of 11, took four for 24 and held two catches in a significant contribution to UWI’s success.

Jonathan Drakes and Rey Matthews were joint top-scorers for Wanderers with 30 runs each.

Summarised scores:

Wanderers 139-9 in 20 overs (J. Drakes 30, R. Matthews 30, D. Stuart 18 n.o., S. Moseley 15, J. Greene 10; R. Hinds 4-24, C. Holder 2-25). Sagicor UWI 141-4 in 19 overs (Leniko Boucher 66, Nicholas Kirton 50 n.o., R. Hinds 11 n.o.; N. Charles 2-23). UWI won by six wickets
