ROAD TENNIS shots-master Antonio “Lil Man” Daniel was outgunned and tottering on the ropes before the Tai Chi-styled Winston “Charles McEnroe” Griffith abandoned an 8-4 lead in the decider to default the night cap game in the A1 Supermarkets Lance Bynoe Masters Open on Monday night at the Rubis Courts, Spring Garden.

The fans, who had waited to see Daniel unreeling his scorching smashes and deadly injections were not disappointed as he rushed to a 4-1 lead in the first game.

But Griffith then stole the show by reeling in the big fish with hooking drives and cuts and rowing to a lead of 16-13.

In spite of some counter punches from Daniel and an obvious leg injury, Griffith motored on to take the first game at 21-17 and recovered from another slow start to ease back from 6-14 to reach 10-15 before losing the second game 12-21. (KB)
