Dorsett’s one to beat
IT WILL BE judging time today for double Gold Cup winner Dorsett in the feature Saleh and Khatija Mohamad Memorial Trophy Condition race, which offers endless possibilities as the Barbados Turf Club stages its Crop Over Festival Raceday on the fifth day of its second season.
The much anticipated high-profile clash over 2 200 metres is slated for 4:55 p.m. and it will be interesting to see who cuts the early fractions, as defending champion Daunting David and last year’s Derby winner Northern Star are also in the mix.
Other contenders include the speedy Ninepoint Six Nine, Stolen and Northern Star while stalkers Marcus Antonius, Daunting David and Inwon could change the scenarios since the track is likely to offer some give.
Midweek showers have sweetened the pot and should the quick-drying track retain some moisture, the Steve and Allan Madoo-owned Dorsett, although throwing weight all around, will welcome the extra distance and should easily get home. (LY)
