Canadian visitors plead guilty to drug charges
TWO CANADIAN MEN will be sentenced tomorrow after pleading guilty to four drug offences each in the District “B” Magistrates’ Court today.
Twenty-two-year-old Austin Clifford Acheson and Elvis Hermiz, 20, admitted to possession of cannabis, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and importation.
Police say Acheson and Hermiz arrived on the island from Canada on Sunday.
A search of their luggage by customs officers revealed that both men were carrying sealed packages on cannabis in false bottoms of their suitcases.
Acheson was carrying 26 sealed packages weighing 13.5 pounds with an estimated street value of street value of $48 800.
Hermiz was in possession 24 packages weighing ten pounds with an estimated street value of $40 000.
Magistrate Laurie-Ann Smith-Bovell remanded the duo to prison overnight. (PR/NB)
