$10 000 up for grabs at play-offs
EVEN THE FANS can score big during the play-offs.
One lucky spectator will get the chance to walk off the court with $10 000, as the Barbados Amateur Basketball Association (BABA) is set to introduce the Da$h Fuh Ca$h competition tonight at the Barbados Community College.
The BABA announced the news yesterday via email ahead of tonight’s Game 3s of the two first-round series between Lumber Company Lakers and Urban Vybz St John’s Sonics and Orange 3 Pinelands and Station Hill Cavaliers.
According to the release, four patrons will be drawn randomly each night leading up to Game 3 of the finals to compete in a timed 24-second shoot-out featuring a layup (one point), free throw (three points), three-pointer (five points) and half-court shot (ten points).
The contestants can decide which shots they shoot and how many times they shoot them, with the fan that collects the most points each night advancing to that winner-takes-all final round for the big $10 000 grand prize.
“We are very excited about the initiative and wanted to provide an opportunity for fans to not only be part of the action but to give them added incentive to come out and support local basketball,” said BABA president Derrick Garrett. (JM)
