Barbados go down against South Africa

BARBADOS LOST their opening match at the World Youth Netball Championships in Gabarone, Botswana early this morning.

The young Gems came up against a taller more physical South African side which won the match 62-30.

South Africa led all quarters – 16-7, 33-14 at half-time and 45-25.

The next game will be even tougher against one of the favourites, Australia, at 6 a.m. Monday.

Jamaica were the only Caribbean team to win on the Cook Islands 43-41, while Fiji beat Trinidad and Tobago 55-28.

Australia 86, Zimbabwe 33

England 69, Wales 23
