Gas may rise again

SOL and Rubis, the two remaining competitors in the local market, received an increase in their take on diesel sales from $0.15 to $0.20 for every litre sold, and on gasoline from $0.20 to $0.22 per litre.

At the pump, consumers who paid $2.93 for gas prior to July 1, are now paying $3.18 per litre, while diesel has gone from $2.13 per litre to $2.36.

But representatives of the two companies told the SUNDAY SUN that consumers should focus their attention on what Government was raking in off the $3.18 per litre of gas and $2.36 for diesel.

On diesel, the excise tax has more than doubled, jumping from $0.20 on every litre to $0.44 from July. (GE)
