Cadogan and Joseph come good

OLYMPIAN Levi Cadogan and Kion Joseph were the only Barbadians to register wins at the Aliann Pompey Invitational athletics’ meet at the Leonara Track and Field Centre in West Coast Demerara, Guyana, on Saturday.

Cadogan, who finished a disappointing fourth at the National Championships last month, beat a fairly quality field in a tight finish to the Banks DIH men’s 100 metres, but his time of 10.24 was still short of the World Championships’ qualifying standard of 10.12 seconds.

Former World champion Kim Collins of St Kitts also did not qualify as he had to settle for second place in 10.28, just pipping Antigua’s Tahir Walsh, who had the same time of 10.29 seconds as Trinidad and Tobago’s national champion, Emmanuel Callender.

Barbados’ CARIFTA Games’ 100 metres silver medallist Jaquone Hoyte was fifth in 10.45 seconds. (EZS)
