Darts making way for youth
DARTS HAS not been hitting its target on the island.
That’s the view of facilitator for Graduates club, Vertis Sealy.
“Darts has not grown as a sport. . . One time darts had 35 teams but that has diminished to just nine. The standard has not really dropped but to get it further you need to get more persons into it.
“Darts is a wonderful game. It’s a game of skill and darts on the national scene is a big money. Imagine having a darts competition here and we can fill 50 something rooms at the Crane. Not many associations could claim that. You can go to one of the big tournaments and you can win over US$1 million. That’s how big darts is; however, it is a well-kept secret,” he said. (RG)
