Arthur urges fiscal rethink

LOOSE THE NOOSE, Chris.

That was the plea of former Prime Minister Owen Arthur who is convinced that embattled Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler is trying to do too much in too short a period and it was backfiring.

The Independent Member of Parliament said that while the financial troubles facing Barbados were enormous and potent medicine was required, “Sinckler is trying to do in nine months what he cannot do in nine months”.

Arthur is opposed to the much-maligned ten per cent National Social Responsibility Levy (NSRL), describing it as a “tax on top of a tax on top of a tax”. (GE)
