MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) now have the chance to gain extra skills with the most recent donation to the medical facility.
The Rotary Club of Barbados West yesterday presented a high-fidelity simulation mannequin to the institution. The doll, which they are calling Sims Junior, and its accompanying control equipment come at a cost of $41 000.
During a handing-over ceremony at the Errol Walrond Building, senior lecturer at the University of the West Indies and consultant at the QEH Dr Michelle Lashley said that staff spanning at least three departments will benefit.
She described the simulator mannequin as an extremely important part of training, noting that before the donation they used low fidelity mannequins which were not as up to date, while the new one simulates the movements of a real child. (TG)
