CONDE RILEY is the new president of the Barbados Cricket Association.
The experienced cricket administrator was elected at the 15th special meeting of members on Thursday night after convincingly brushing aside the challenge of former first vice-president Deighton Smith and Erskine King.
Before a standing room only gathering at the Hilton Hotel, Riley received 284 votes, way more than King (85) and Smith (80).
Calvin Hope is the new vice-president, having received 170 votes in a four-man race that also included Roland Butcher (118), Maurice Gaskin (107) and Kamal Springer (37).
Gregory Nicholls (172) made a return to the board as secretary, defeating Anthea Ishmael (142) and Winston Stafford (112).
Jason King retained his position as treasurer after Pat Greenidge withdrew just before the election.
The other directors elected were Timothy Boyce, Stafford, Butcher, Hartley Reid and Betty Lewis-Browne. (HG)
