Tridents: Bring it on

STILL SMARTING FROM the disappointment of missing out on last year’s playoffs, Barbados Tridents captain Kieron Pollard says his side is eager to make amends when the fifth edition of the Hero Caribbean Premier League bowls off on Friday.

Tridents, the 2014 champions, failed to impress in the 2016 season, losing their last four games to suffer elimination as Jamaica Tallawahs went on to clinch their second title.

The squad leaves Barbados today for Florida where they are scheduled to open their campaign against the reigning champions at Central Broward Stadium in Lauderhill on Saturday, and Pollard believes Tridents are much better prepared especially after having examined where they went wrong last year.

“I thought looking back on last year [we weren’t] getting off to good starts and we were always behind the eight-ball in the first six overs and then we were always playing catch-up cricket,” the West Indies Twenty20 star told a media conference at the Hilton Hotel on Saturday. (HG)
