TWO-TIME OLYMPIAN Seibert Straughn expects hurdler Shane Brathwaite to lead the challenge for Barbados at the forthcoming IAAF World Championships in London.

Straughn told MIDWEEK SPORT that the team will put in all the effort they possibly can but he sees Brathwaite, a Commonwealth Games bronze medallist, as the one to watch.

“I expect them to go and put up their best possible show at the competition. To me, our best hope will be in Shane Brathwaite, who I think will advance as far as the finals,” said Straughn, the head coach of secondary schools girls’ champions Christ Church Foundation.

“He has been very consistent in the 110-metres hurdles this year, so I expect him to do very well . . . . Shane is good enough to make the final.” (RG)
