10 years – still no money

IT APPEARS THERE are many people yet to reach an insurance settlement for the Joe’s River accident ten years ago.

In an interview, one of the people involved, Laura Galt, the food and beverage manager for Paul’s Enterprises, said while she could not speak definitively for everyone else, she knew from speaking to a few people that this was the case.

“The people who were staff here who were in the accident have not, as far as I know, received anything from ICBL [Insurance Corporation of Barbados Limited]. A lot of people have not put in their claims yet for whatever reasons, be it that they are still undergoing therapy or have upcoming surgery and I know some people had psychological problems,” she said.
