GARBAGE SITTING FOR weeks in Cave Hill and Eden Lodge, St Michael has residents pleading for relief from the stench and the likely health hazards.

Members of the communities told the WEEKEND NATION yesterday that the refuse would usually be collected on Wednesdays, but there had been no pickup for about two weeks, leaving overflowing garbage cans or skips along the road or next to units in housing developments.

“They (sanitation workers) would come out a day and quick so come back out in the next three days and then you don’t see them again till after two weeks,” said a resident who did not want his name to be used.

Another resident said the state of garbage collection in the area should have been dealt with a long time ago. (SB)
