AG seeks police, public trust

LOCAL Authorities continue to mull the introduction of anti-gang legislation.

Attorney General and Minister of Home Affairs Adriel Brathwaite said no decision had been made on which direction to proceed, though he expressed worry about reported activities involving “drug dealers”.

In an interview on Q FM’s Walter-Point-Two, Brathwaite said it was disturbing to hear that alleged drug leaders were sponsoring football teams and that marijuana smoking and other unwholesome activities were being associated with the sport.

To fight back, he said it was necessary to build trust between those exposed to such activities and the police, particularly in areas where drug use and the associated violence were high. (WILLCOMM)
