FRESH from helping Pro Shottas win the Under-17 division of the National Youth Cup last Friday, five footballers left the island on Saturday for a ten-day trial with Tormenta FC in the United States.

The five included three players who copped individual awards in the National Youth Cup – MVP and Best Striker Nial Reid-Stephens, goalkeeper Luke Slater and defender Jaiden Miller. They were joined by Tyrique Belle and Dishon Howell.

While in Georgia, the quintet will be scouted by college coaches in the area where they will train with the Tormenta Academy team and play a couple of showcase matches.

Owner of the club, Jeremy Aven, who arranged the stint, arrives in Barbados on Monday to work at the Pro Shottas annual summer camp to scout other talented players.

It is part of the Pro Shottas player and team development programme to provide opportunities for Barbadian and other Caribbean youth through football. (HG/PR)
