IN JUST UNDER three hours, the Accident and Emergency Department of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) treated 22 people, including 20 with gunshot wounds.
In a second media release Monday night, the QEH gave more details from the activation of the Incident Command around 7:50 p.m. until it was closed at 10:36 p.m.
In addition to the shooting victims, two others, one with stab wounds and another who had been in a vehicle accident, were also treated.
One man succumbed to injuries sustained in a shooting on the Spring Garden Highway at the climax of Grand Kadooment, while another person was undergoing emergency surgery.
The injured comprised 15 males and seven females, among them five minors.
Four people have been admitted and ten were seen and discharged. Those discharged included patients suffering with soft tissue injuries and orthopaedic injuries who will continue to be managed on an outpatient basis.
The remaining seven patients have minor injuries and are currently waiting to be seen.
In addition, the Venue Operating Centre at Spring Garden informed it had seen one additional victim who received a superficial gunshot wound to the left side and was treated at the scene and discharged.
There were also three persons who witnessed the incident and suffered from acute panic attacks. They have also been seen and discharged. (PR/SAT)
