THE MUSIC WAS infectious, the response was automatic and the celebrations were overwhelming.
But on a day when most of the island participated in Grand Kadooment, the climax of Crop Over, 21 pastors and close to 200 worshippers held a spiritual parliament at Restorations Ministries, Brittons Hill, seeking God’s “ratification” of a restoration of Barbados.
Under the chair of Senator Rev. David Durant, songs and prayers were offered up for half of the day seeking a revival of Barbados’ economy and control of the moral and physical violence plaguing the country. While calling the elders to hold hands at the front of the church, Durant said that the holding of hands symbolised a coming together and a change in the church of Barbados.
“This is a Spiritual Parliament where God will ratify the decisions we make here today. We pray for the revival of our economy, we pray for the sexual confusion in our country and the violence threatening our country.” (KB)
