Burke climbs in surfing rankings
BARBADIAN JOSH BURKE has climbed to 93rd in the the World Surf League (WSL) rankings.
He also qualified for the WSL Prime 10 000 events, the highest level of professional surfing on the qualifying series, after the just completed US Open Of Surfing at Huntington Beach Pier in California.
Burke is seeking to become the first Bajan to qualify for a WSL Men’s Prime 10 000 event after the half-year cut-off when surfers’ rankings are determined.
“The US Open was a nerve-racking event to watch unfold as the outcome determined where I would end up on the ranking, which in the end was 93rd. The top 100 qualify for the Prime 10 000 events, so I was really happy to see the results posted last night and stay on track with my goals,” he said. (PR)
