Birch: Respect due to youth
CHIEF MAGISTRATE CHRISTOPHER BIRCH is cautioning against applying a broad brush approach for people on the blocks.
And he is also demanding respect for youth engaged in technical and manual jobs, saying they are experts in their field much like members of the judiciary and others.
The jurist mounted the defence as he delivered the 20th anniversary public lecture of the Urban Development Commission on the topic: Challenges Facing Urban Barbados: Beyond the Physical.
He steered clear of speaking on the issue of crime, except to say that he is concerned like all Barbadians, noting that he is bound by a code of a conduct and any comments could be used against him at a later date. (WILLCOMM)
