Junior cyclist on the rise
AMBER JOSEPH IS on an upward climb, after securing a gold and silver medal for Barbados in the Junior Pan American Cycling Championships in Mexico last month.
The 17-year-old England-based junior cyclist said that while it was a new track and she did endure some nosebleeds, the experience was a great one.
“Compared to last year it was completely different. It was new to me because I’ve never raced that track, and the altitude – I could feel it while pushing myself. It was all interesting for me dealing with it. In one of the races I had a bad nosebleed, which I think was from the altitude as well.
“Overall, I enjoyed it, being with the boys who were in the road race, and being with an entire team. I can’t wait to hopefully go to Senior Pan Am Games next year. I just love competition and stuff,” she said in a telephone interview with the DAILY NATION yesterday. (RA)
