Concern over drop in women golfers
THE FALL-OFF IN the number of females holding clubs has become a great concern to the golfing community.
This issue was raised by president of the Barbados Golfing Association, Trevor Tasker, during a press conference to launch the upcoming Barbados Open Golf Tournament at Sagicor General Insurance, Haggatt Hall, yesterday.
“Across the Caribbean we are seeing fewer women taking up the game. As we get into Trinidad, Jamaica and Barbados we realise that we have a drop-off and we are yet to understand the reasons why,” he said.
However, Tasker said that didn’t seem to be the problem in countries like the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. (RG)
