Fake car queries for authority

THE FAILURE OF the Licensing Authority to explain why it has apparently granted permits to fake and stolen vehicles has annoyed the manager of an insurance company.

The manager, who did not want to be named, told the SUNDAY SUN that his company and its lawyers wrote to the Government agency as well as the police on the matter over a year ago, but had not received a response.

He said they asked for an investigation after two clients made reports to the police and the company that their vehicles had been stolen. When the company did its own investigations they discovered that the vehicles, which were “inspected and registered”, had never existed.

“We wanted the document on which Licensing Authority relied on to show that the vehicles entered Barbados and they have not been able to produce it,” he said. “The information that we have is that the vehicles never came to Barbados.” (MB)
