Northern Star dazzles all
BARBADOS’ NO. 1 HORSE Northern Star did not break a sweat in cantering home by three and three-quarter lengths for his 11th victory at the Garrison Savannah yesterday.
Jockey Jalon Samuel gave the Victor Cheeseman and Mervyn Rollins-owned colt and son of Carpe Diem out of Aquarius Star an easy ride from the inside post, where all that was required was for him to track the leader Nekitta.
This pair raced together until the home stretch, at which point Northern Star said “goodbye and thank you” to Nekitta for her company.
He was simply much better than his three opponents in the feature Barbados Thoroughbred Breeders Association Breeders Sprint, a Grade III race in memory of Francis Cozier. (LY)
