AFTER COMING OFF a high from winning the Blazing 7s Rugby Tournament in New Jersey and placing second in the Saratoga 7s Invitational Tournament in New York, the Barbados Rugby team were slaughtered on home ground 60-12 by the Randox Raiders on Friday night.
While Barbados showcased their speed and agility at the Garrison Savannah, the Irish team worked in quiet unison, seeming to read plays before they happened.
The Raiders’ tackles were on point as they effortlessly took Barbados to the ground, and kept them there time and again, preventing them from scoring and ending the first half 36-0.
As the second half continued, although Barbados appeared to regroup, the Raiders still kept the pressure on them. While the sudden showers appeared to slow the Bajan boys, the Raiders appeared to welcome the blessings. Their passes got even smoother as Barbados fumbled the slippery ball too many times, losing valuable points in the process. (RA)
