ARAWAK CEMENT COMPANY may soon have its own solar plant.
General manager Manuel Toro told the SUNDAY SUN that the company had written Senator Darcy Boyce, the minister responsible for energy, informing him of its intention to set up a solar energy generation plant.
He said the cost of energy in Barbados was the highest of the 90 plants that the CEMEX group operates in 55 countries.
“Our intention is to supply at least 25 per cent of our operations here from solar power,” he said. (MB)
