THE BARBADOS UNDER-15 footballers played with pride and passion but weren’t precise enough from the penalty spot when it mattered most.

The young Tridents were defeated 4-3 on penalties by Suriname in their Division 2 final of the CONCACAF Under-15 Championships in Florida yesterday.

It was an even affair with the score locked 1-1 after full and extra time at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, with Andre Applewhaite scoring in the first half for Barbados.

The first-half scoreline of 1-1 remained unchanged for the rest of the encounter after the Barbadian youngsters, who topped Group E with ten points to secure their berth in the final, matched Group F winners Suriname in every facet of the game. (EZS)
