GEORGETOWN – Opener Dwayne Smith struck his fourth Twenty20 hundred and the first of the new Caribbean Premier League season but Barbados Tridents extended their losing streak with a disappointing four-wicket defeat to Guyana Amazon Warriors in a key encounter on Sunday night.

Sent in at the Guyana National Stadium, Tridents were propelled to a competitive 159 for four off their 20 overs, with the right-handed Smith stroking an exciting unbeaten 100 off 70 deliveries.

Fellow opener, New Zealander Kane Williamson carved out 47 off 43 balls, as Pakistani seamer Sohail Tanvir picked up three for 40.

In reply, however, opener Chadwick Walton answered Smith’s hundred with a sparkling 92 off 57 deliveries as the hosts reached their target with five balls to spare. (CMC)
