Haiti brought style and flavour with their musical theatrical production, 21 Nanchon, at the Frank Collymore Hall on Tuesday night as no-one else can.
From the drummers to lead actors, there was breathtaking extravagance. Actors were dressed in rich ornate fabric with exquisite embroidery and gold threads. Gowns were huge and full of sequins and layers of tulle – and they were not only for the women as the male actors even wore some of these dresses.
One of the delegation, Gorges Simeon, translated to the DAILY NATION the production in a nutshell, saying how the 200-strong contingent was happy to be in Barbados for CARIFESTA XIII. (NS)
