THE BEAUTIFUL MUSIC of the penny whistle, drum and triangle played by tuk bands took pride of place on the Grand Market main stage Wednesday night.
Tuk is We Ting was the theme of the Barbados Night at CARIFESTA XIII and as visitors got a taste of what this country’s musicians and entertainers have to offer, whether it was drumming, folk music, calypso, soca, spouge, or dance, locals showed their love for the music by dancing, singing and waving flags.
It was hard not be enveloped in the positive vibes emanating from the stage throughout the more than near 90-minute show.
The first part featured Mighty Gabby, who performed the beautiful Bridgetown, the energetic Haynesville Youth Club, Drummers Federation, a combined folk group which included members of Sing Out Barbados, Israel Lovell Foundation Dancers, Pinelands Creative Workshop’s Juniors with a Landship dance.
