WARREN ALLEYNE’S DEDICATION to chronicling Barbados’ history should be honoured with a “monument” in his memory.

Making the call for an Alleyne memorial yesterday, Monsignor Vincent Blackett urged the historians present at the late historian’s funeral service at the St Patrick’s Roman Catholic Cathedral to initiate such a drive.

“He has done so much for Barbados, there should be a monument to his memory” Blackett said in the presence of historians Dr Karl Watson, Dr Pedro Welch and Sir Henry Fraser, who delivered the eulogy in honour of his long-time friend.

Sir Henry spoke of his near 40-year friendship with Alleyne, with whom he worked on many projects as they shared their interest in the island’s history. (GC)
