LEGISLATION TARGETING GUN CRIMES and the operation of gangs is part of a comprehensive plan to respond to the mounting concern about crime in Barbados.
But as he outlined the measures designed to stem the tide of violent crime currently being experienced, Attorney General Adriel Brathwaite yesterday told Barbadians there was no need to panic.
“Yes we are all concerned about what’s happening this year in particular with respect to the increased gun violence, in particular,” Brathwaite said. “I do not believe that whilst we are very concerned, that there is a cause for panic.”
Delivering the keynote address, titled Protecting Barbados’ No. 1 Brand Element, at the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association’s (BHTA) third quarterly general meeting at Hilton Barbados, Brathwaite gave the assurance there was “an effective crime security strategy” in place.
