A flash flood warning is in effect for Barbados until 4 p.m. today

It was issued by the Barbados Meteorological Services at 1:45 p.m.

Officials said a combination of light winds, strong day-time heating and adequate low level moisture was generating moderate to heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms over some central, northern and northwestern districts.

As a consequence,  a Flood Warning was put in effect for these sections of the island.

Rainfall accumulations of up to 50 – 75 mm (2 – 3 inches) are likely.

Residents in flood prone areas should exercise caution and remain on the alert.

A flood warning means that some flooding is already occurring or is imminent and can cause disruption.
