Character Day draws many

Parents of students at Milton Lynch Primary are being applauded for their participation in the school’s Character Day activities on Wednesday.

Teacher and organiser of the day’s events Voghn-Everett Tatem said the turnout of about 25 parents was surprising, considering the poor attendance at most Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meetings.

“All students received letters from the school about this event. I didn’t expect 300 parents to come, but to be honest, there are more parents in there than you would see at a PTA meeting. But I would still encourage more parents to come out to the PTA meetings, because they [meetings] are trying to help the situation,” he said.

Character Day is a global event which consists of screening films that draw parallels between science and character building. The participants are then asked to do a self-analysis, discuss who they are, who they would like to be and learn how to develop those character strengths shown. (TG)
