Two males have been remanded to prison on firearm and ammunition charges after appearing in court in separate matters.

Eighteen-year-old Zariq Amir Pierre Grant 18 years of Farm Path, Hillaby, St Thomas is accused of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of one round of ammunition and unlawful possession of cannabis.

Police say the items were found on Monday when a search warrant was executed at the residence occupied by Grant.

He appeared before Magistrate Ian Weekes in the District ‘D’ Magistrates’ Court on Thursday and was remanded to prison to reappear in court on October 11.

Meanwhile, 26-year-old Pierre Dacarlo Small of # 1 Mullion Lane, Gall Hill, Christ Church is accused of unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ten rounds ammunition.

Police say they conducted an operation on Wednesday at Wayniah’s Wholesale, #33 Warrens Industrial Estate, Warrens, St Michael, where a promotional event was being held.

A search of Small allegedly revealed the firearm and ammunition and he was subsequently arrested and charged.

Small appeared before Acting Magistrate Sandra Rawlins in the District ‘A’ Traffic Court on Friday and was remanded to prison to reappear in court on October 13. (PR/NB)
