Decision on sea eggs soon

THE INDEFINITE BAN on harvesting of sea eggs remains in place, even though it is two weeks into September.

But it could be lifted in a matter of days. An announcement is expected soon from Minister of Agriculture, Dr David Estwick.

Last year, the ban by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Fisheries was placed on harvesting of the white urchins because numbers were not yet up to scratch.

Chief Fisheries Officer, Stephen Willoughby, while confirming the ban was still in place, said a decision was imminent. (BA)
