Aid rush

THE RESPONSE has been great. Now the relief effort will have to be as well.

The Barbados Coast Guard vessel HMBS Leonard C Banfield sailed to hurricane-ravaged Dominica last night, to take much-needed supplies to the nature isle.

Dominica, still nursing wounds from the lashing it took from Tropical Storm Erika in 2015, was hit head on by Hurricane Maria on Monday night.

Up to press time, the exact damage remained unknown, but within a few hours the crew of the Coast Guard vessel will deliver precious water and other household items to the island. (BA)
