ETOBICOKE – Barbadian brothers Patrick and Simon Husbands combined for a pair of wins on Saturday at the Woodbine Racetrack.

Elder brother Simon grabbed his eighth win of the season, when he kicked off the day’s programme with a three-quarter length victory aboard the 6-1 chance Fine Grit in the CAN$19 500 first race contested over 1 700 metres on the Polytrack.

He put Fine Grit to stalk the pace from the second path and chased into the stretch before he produced the four-year-old, grey gelding 100m out and prevailed over Subliminal, under his younger brother, with a strong hand ride to clock one minute, 46.13 seconds.

Younger brother Patrick kept up appearances with his 85th winner of the season, when he steered the 11-1 choice Honor and Trust to victory by a head in the CAN$61 000 fourth race, going 1 300 metres on the turf.

Former champion jockey Patrick is fourth in the standings and Simon is 17th. (CMC)
