Alisha Clarke’s story has a happy ending. She is now safely out of Dominica.

Yesterday the five-months pregnant woman and her six-year-old son were asked to leave the HMBS Rudyard Lewis, which returned to Barbados carrying more evacuees.

At the time, commanding officer of the HMBS Leonard C Banfield Lieutenant (Coast Guard) Anderson Goodridge explained the ride by sea would have been too rough for her in her condition.

This morning, the NATION NEWS team on location, saw a smiling and laughing Clarke outside the Financial Centre in Roseau.

“Thank you so much for all your help. The officer yesterday was able to arrange a ride for me and my son, and we’re leaving here by plane to go to Martinique. I’m still hoping we can get on to Barbados from there. I’m just now waiting on this officer over here to leave,” she said pointing to an American pilot. (RA)
