Spare the rod, ruin the child

Spare the rod, ruin the child

Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.  – Proverbs 23:13-14.

He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes. – Proverbs 13:24.

IT IS NOT WISE to go against the Word of God. To do this will be to our own ruin and that of our children.

The God of the universe who created us and knows what is best for us says that we are to correct the children and when necessary, the child should be spanked. This will save the child from hell.

But man who thinks he knows better than God is saying ignore the Word of the Lord and rather spare the rod and ruin the child.

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” – 2 Timothy 3:16

“Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.” – Proverbs 19:18

“Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.” – Proverbs 29:17

“The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.” – Proverbs 29:15

“Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.” – Proverbs 22:15

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” – Proverbs 29:15

I agree that children should not be abused, but it is foolish and disastrous to “throw out the baby with the water” as is being suggested.

Children must be taught that there are consequences for their actions and there is no better way to do it than according to the scriptures. Disobedience always bring curses. When God is out of the picture, Satan takes over.

“Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.”– Proverbs 14:34
