On the heels of losing a brother 11 months ago to the bullet of a gunman and not knowing up to now who the shooter is, Winston Riviere has been thrown into more uncertainty as he awaits word on his relatives in Dominica.

Edward Watson died in a shooting incident while painting the home of a former West Indies cricketer in Parish Land, Christ Church. No one has been held in connection with his death.

Riviere, who has been living in Barbados for the past 27 years, has been married to Joan for 27 years and that union produced a son, 20-year-old Giovani.

Riviere said he heard from a niece in Texas, United States, on Saturday night and she said his siblings, Ruthine Shillingford, who worked at Ross University School of Medicine, and brother Donny Riviere were safe and that no one from the neighbourhood [Dubla] had died. But since the devastation from Hurricane Maria, he has had no confirmation as to whether this information was accurate. (JB)
