The handgun of a British soldier has gone missing in Barbados. According to sources close to the investigation, the Glock was checked in at the Barbados Defence Force’s Paragon, Christ Church base, but it subsequently disappeared.

The soldier is part of a contingent in the Caribbean providing relief and support for the islands affected by hurricanes Irma and Maria.

Police have been called in to investigate and the Sunday Sun understands the homes of some soldiers have been searched.

The source said there had been communication with the British authorities and it was not clear if the gun was stolen or if it was carried to one of the islands among the supplies. (MB)
