Shutdown under review
Barbados’ national shutdown policy during emergencies is in for a full review.
That’s the word from Attorney General, Adriel Brathwaite, and director of the country’s Department of Emergency Management (DEM), Kerry Hinds.
It was announced Friday when the pair hosted the 6th working meeting of the Emergency Management Advisory Council, the country’s highest ranking entity which controls Barbados’ response to natural disasters.
Under review will be the time-frame allowed for the business sector to shut down operations and get employees home safely, traffic management, evacuation of Bridgetown, if necessary, and even the storage of food and water on a national basis, should Barbados have to deal with a large hurricane, tsunami, or earthquake that compromises the population.
