Barbados Fire Service (BFS) rose from the embers and fired themselves into the final of the Barbados Cricket Association’s Shield competition with a tense two-wicket semi-final victory over BRC yesterday.
BFS started the final over needing 14 runs to win after BRC had set them 203 to win in 39 overs.
Seamer Kerwyn Selman bowled the fateful final over. His first three deliveries went for five runs. His fourth was pulled to the boundary for four by Ron Phillips and with five needed off two balls, Phillips became a hero and Selman a villain.
Selman produced a full-toss that was signalled no-ball by the umpire and it was also struck for a boundary. BFS reached the target from 38.4 overs with two balls to spare to set up a final showdown with Windward on October 15. (HE)
