Fall in standard of marriage

Marriage is a standard. It is a standard that was established by the Creator of the first man and the first woman. There was a period when the first man was alone, even though he was surrounded by animals.

There was no suitable creature that could become his companion. Then the Creator brought a new creature to the man. This new creature was made from a rib of the first man. As soon as the first man saw this new creature he called her “woman” and from that moment a standard was set.

“Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh” – Genesis 2:24 (KJV).

Subsequent generations of human beings continued to follow this standard. In every culture marriage was seen as the highest standard of relationship between a man and a woman.

Families would ascribe glory and honour to this marriage standard. Great feasts would be held to celebrate this standard and gifts would be given to congratulate the husband and wife.

Today, these things are still done to celebrate marriage but within several nations of this world the marriage standard has declined.

What used to be the “divine orchestrated union” between one man and one woman has been downgraded to the mere “legal union” between two human beings whether they are of the same sex or not.

What used to be a standard of one man and one woman deciding to be joined to each other in the eyes of God had devolved into a legal right which must be accessed by all in the eyes of the court of law.

In other words, the marriage standard was lowered to accommodate those who believe they should have access to it.

Many great nations and empires have existed in this world but at some point these nations and empires began to decline. In the 21st century we are seeing a decline in the marriage standard. However, all is not lost.

There are still those who are willing to uphold the marriage standard and as long as there are persons to lift up that great standard our future generations will have a light to lead them out of the dark tunnels of this 21st century society.
