Things are finally starting to look up for the cruise ship industry.
Stuck in neutral due to the recent slew of natural disasters affecting the Eastern Caribbean over the last two months, Barbados is now set to receive just under 3 000 cruise passengers at the Bridgetown Port on Thursday.
The Adventure of the Seas will be the first ship to berth here since cruises out of Puerto Rico were suspended last week. And chief executive officer of Foster and Ince Cruise Services Inc., Martin Ince, couldn’t be happier.
“The good news is that Royal Caribbean is re-starting their cruises to the Eastern Caribbean with this one. They turn around their ships in Puerto Rico every weekend, and they come to Barbados every second week, so this means their schedule is returning to normal,” he told the SUNDAY SUN. (BA)
