The king of swing didn’t have it on the day.

Barbados’ best tennis player Darian King fell short of a fourth ATP Challenger title, having lost yesterday’s final in straight sets to rising Brit Cameron Norrie at the Stockton Challenger tournament in California.

Playing in gusty conditions on stadium court, the 25-year-old baseliner never seemed to have adjusted to the swirling winds in a disheartening 6-1, 6-3 defeat to the red hot left-hander in an hour and nine minutes.

It was an uncharacteristically uneven performance from King, who shockingly ran around his backhand too often to give southpaw Norrie easy looks at passing shots down the line. (JM)
